IARMARECO - THE FAIR FOR PEOPLE, TORBES AND SOUL!
THE 9TH EDITION OF THE FAIR OF ECOLOGICAL INITIATIVES AND AND SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP TOOK PLACE ON SEPTEMBER 26, 2021. THIS IS AN ANNUAL EVENT THAT BRINGS TOGETHER SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS AND LOCAL PRODUCERS, AS WELL AS THE MAIN ACTORS IN THE ECOLOGICAL WORLD.
IarmarEco - 2021 took place in the park "Valea Trandafirilor", in Chisinau on the last Sunday of September.
IarmarEco aims to promote ecological opportunities, social entrepreneurship, social initiatives and a sustainable lifestyle. It is a special combination of fair, networking facility, workshops and interactive presentations / lessons, which makes it a unique event in the landscape of ecology and social activism in Moldova.
Over 120 vendors / producers and organizations participated in the fair. The participants noticed a large flow of buyers, for whome such an event and the knowledge of local producers was an unexpected first experience, because, due to the location and variety of products, IarmarEco attracted many new of people from outside the community which exists around IarmarEco. The event also created a space for share of knowledge, experiences and communication between those who love and look forward to IarmarEco every year!

🔸 IarmarEco - 2021 included several shopping areas where buyers could purchase:
• vegetarian food, vegetables and fruits grown in Moldova, honey, pistil, oils, desserts, pasta;
• cosmetics and hygiene products - ecological ones;
• souvenirs and handicrafts, jewelry, toys, gifts;
• torbes, clothes, etc.
Each producer contributed to the promotion of local products by giving a gift to randomly selected buyers.
🔸 Together with social initiatives and active entrepreneurs, we managed to design several visually attractive ecological areas, as well as to organize a series of educational meetings on topics such as agriculture, organic farming, social entrepreneurship, alternative transport, waste management.
🔸 Additionally to the shopping areas, GREEN ZONE was created on the territory of the event, where partners and friends from social initiatives and organizations demonstrated their activity and informed more about their working topics, and gave people the opportunity to get even more familiar with the practices of sustainable development and ecological lifestyle right on the spot. These initiatives are:
- Collection and sorting of waste (paper, electronics, plastic, etc.) from the team Moldova #FaraDeseuri (AO EcoVisio) and their partners (ABS recycling, City Service, Eco Recycling),
- Plastic Collection for TEP (Youth for Eco-Plastic), who recycle plastic and sell plastic products and decorations,
- Freeshop - a free clothing exchange initiative,
- Carte pentru fapte- an initiative to buy books through good deeds done,
- Adoptă un prieten – an initiative for the adoption of animals,
- Asociația Jurnaliștilor de Mediu - an organization that promotes ecology in the media, and delivering an ecological game for informing young people,
- and others.
IARMARECO IS ONE OF THE “INSTRUMENTS” OF THE SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP HUB IN MOLDOVA FOR PROMOTING THE CONCEPT OF SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND ECOLOGICAL RESPONSIBILITY.

WHY SHOULD IARMARECO NOT BE CALLED A REGULAR COMMERCIAL FAIR?
This event primarily promotes the SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP phenomenon and also creates a space to showcase local products and environmental opportunities. IarmarEco was launched in 2013 to present environmental initiatives and ideas to the public.
Now, IarmarEco is already becoming an advocacy tool for social entrepreneurship in Moldova.
Why? What social entrepreneurship is? In our vision, this is a business model that solves social or environmental problems through its activity, and the final profit from the activity is again invested in solving these problems.
Officially, we have only a few social enterprises in Moldova. However, we believe that many of our members are de facto social entrepreneurs or could become. We support them in the development process and promote them to the general public.
